Backstory
Fightful says SmackDown GM Nick Aldis announced the match during a sit-down with both on the Oct. 23 SmackDown. F4W says both believe they should be champion instead of Sami Zayn and blame each other.
This is a partial card. One bout is announced for the Friday, Nov. 6, broadcast. Fightful says SmackDown GM Nick Aldis announced CM Punk against Kevin Owens during a sit-down interview segment with both on the Oct. 23 SmackDown. F4W sets the same date and explains the taping. The status is announced. Nothing on this page is a result.
Taped Monday, aired Friday
F4W says the match airs on the Nov. 6 SmackDown and that the episode is taped Monday, Nov. 2, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, after live Raw, because of Crown Jewel travel to Riyadh. The live Raw that night is the Nov. 2 Raw card, which has its own match and its own 6 p.m. ET start. This file uses Nov. 6 as the episode date because that is the broadcast date a viewer can watch. The building in the sources is the taping building. The sources used here do not print a Friday air-time clock, so this card does not borrow 7:30 p.m. from the Charleston show. timePosted stays false, and the calendar entry is all-day.
Taped results are not published here before the Nov. 6 air date, and not before WWE posts results. A finish that leaks from the Monday taping is not a result on this page. That is the same rule the Collision card uses for a show taped before it airs. Spoilers wait.
What the two outlets say about the match
Fightful says Owens and Punk previously faced each other on the Aug. 21 SmackDown, where Punk defended his WWE Championship. This page does not retell that match beyond that sentence. It is prior history in the announcement, not a Nov. 6 result.
F4W says both men believe they should be champion instead of Sami Zayn and blame each other. F4W also says Zayn won the Undisputed WWE Championship from Punk last month in a match that included involvement from Owens. F4W says real-life issues dating back to Ring of Honor in the 2000s have been built into the storyline. Those are the storyline sentences in the report. They are not a stipulation that the Undisputed title is on the line on Nov. 6. The bout is filed as a singles match because that is what the announcement is. No champion is named as defending it in these two sources.
The Oct. 30 SmackDown in Charleston is the Friday before this broadcast. It is a different card, with Zayn against Trick Williams among the bouts already filed. This page does not move those matches. Nov. 6 is described as the go-home show to Crown Jewel on Saturday, Nov. 7. The Riyadh card stays on its own file. A Punk or Owens result from Brooklyn does not exist yet, so it cannot change Riyadh.
The SmackDown hub lists this tape next to Charleston. The calendar shows Friday, Nov. 6, as its own cell. When WWE posts the aired results, this card can become a results file. Until then the pill stays announced, and the Monday taping is context, not a spoiler sheet.
