Overnight wire, Nov. 1: Punk's NXT title match is booked, and Collision sets a cruise rematch

Sunday's wire books Punk against Waller for Wednesday, Jordan's open challenge, NXT TLC on Dec. 12, and Andrade against Ciampa on the Jericho cruise.

Sunday has no show. The clock is Eastern Standard Time. Five bookings moved overnight, and two cards did not. Each item below is labeled announced, reported, or result. Nothing here is a viewership number. Havoc and Collision ratings are not out.

Punk’s rent is due Wednesday — announced

Result, already filed: Grayson Waller beat Tony D’Angelo and retained the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc. That finish is on the Havoc page and on WWE’s results, which say Punk then demanded a title opportunity.

Announced, since those results: the challenge is now a match. F4W, Bryan Rose on Oct. 31, says Danhausen told Waller a friend had a message, Punk appeared on the video screen, and Punk challenged him for Wednesday. F4W’s updated lineup is “NXT Championship: Grayson Waller defends against CM Punk.” The WWE post embedded there says Punk challenges Waller “NEXT WEDNESDAY.” The short quote from Punk, via F4W, is “I’m the landlord.” PWInsider, Paul Jordan at 10:01 p.m., says it was announced at the end of Havoc that Punk will face Waller for the title on Nov. 4. Fightful’s Havoc results say Punk called Waller out and will challenge Wednesday. Wrestling Online says Punk, on video, told Waller he will meet him for the title Wednesday. The bout is on the Nov. 4 card. This wire does not call it a first NXT title shot.

The other Punk booking already on the site is Nov. 6 SmackDown: Fightful has that match as No Holds Barred, and F4W puts the taping on Nov. 2 after Raw. Two cards, two brands, one week. That is the booking. It is not a prediction about which one matters more.

Analysis, labeled as a reading and not a rating: NXT’s head-to-head with Blood and Guts now has a main-roster name in a title match at the top of the Wednesday card.

NXT stacks the Wednesday card — announced

F4W’s later lineup and PWInsider’s 9:58 p.m. lineup are the list, with Punk added on the later notes. Waller against Punk. Kelani Jordan defends the NXT Women’s Championship in an open challenge against a mystery opponent. The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic final is Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno against Hank and Tank, and Cody Rhodes presents the trophy. PWInsider calls it the Dusty Cup. Dion Lennox against Cruz Montana is unsanctioned. Chad Gable, Dragon Lee, and Rey Fenix meet The Vanity Project. John Cena appears. Fightful’s Oct. 27 listing is the older Dusty and unsanctioned pairing. No building is posted.

F4W’s earlier Wednesday story is how two of those bouts got made. In a Havoc backstage segment, Robert Stone booked The Vanity Project against Fenix, Lee, and Gable after The Vanity Project dismissed the Dusty final. After Jordan retained, Stone told her she would defend Wednesday. When she asked who, he said it would be a surprise. F4W ties that defense to her confrontation with IYO SKY on Raw. That is F4W’s context. It is not a name for the opponent. Fightful’s Havoc file records the same Stone announcements and does not name the woman either.

Chandler is announced to be at the show, with a role in the unsanctioned match. The outlets do not use the same noun. F4W’s lineup says “special guest referee.” PWInsider says “special guest enforcer.” WWE.com has not posted a card. This wire prints both and does not choose.

The Wednesday date is the election move. F4W and Wrestling Online say the show goes head-to-head with Blood and Guts because of CW midterm coverage on Tuesday. F4W’s own framing, in the main-roster piece, is that WWE is beefing up the show for that AEW head-to-head. That sentence is F4W’s, not a desk grade.

Head-to-head math, Wednesday night — announced

Blood and Guts is unchanged as a match list from what AEW already printed, with one lineup update from Saturday. AEW’s Oct. 31 Collision results list Wednesday, Nov. 4, on TBS and HBO Max at 8/7c from VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville. The men’s match is Will Ospreay, the Young Bucks, Adam Copeland, Darby Allin, and Steven Borden against Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, Kevin Knight, Wardlow, Mark Davis, and Jake Doyle. The women’s match is Triangle of Madness, Divine Dominion, and Persephone against the Brawling Birds, Willow Nightingale, Wrathlander, and Queen Aminata. That is six against six on each side in AEW’s box. The event listing on the Blood and Guts card still says 7:30 p.m. ET. This wire does not resolve 7:30 against 8/7c.

NXT is 8 p.m. ET on The CW and ESPN Unlimited, from the time already on the Wednesday card. No ratings prediction is attached to either start.

TLC comes back as an NXT show — announced

No matches. The date is the news. PWInsider, Mike Johnson at 9:31 p.m. on Oct. 31, says NXT will present TLC as a CW special on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, and that TLC ran as a pay-per-view from 2009 through 2020. Fightful, Andrew Thompson, says it was announced during Havoc, airs on The CW at 7 p.m. ET, and that the last TLC pay-per-view was December 2020, headlined by Randy Orton against The Fiend in a Firefly Inferno match. F4W calls it NXT’s final premium live event of 2026 and says it replaces the Deadline event of recent years. The WWE post embedded there says “the TLC PLE comes to NXT.” There is no card page here because there are no bouts. The PLE hub has the announcement. The calendar does not, because this site’s calendar is built from card files.

Collision sets sail — announced

Andrade El Idolo defends the AEW National Championship against Tommaso Ciampa on Saturday, Nov. 7. F4W, Ian Carey, says the Collision is live from Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Rager on the Norwegian Jewel, docked in Miami. It was announced during the Oct. 31 Collision after Ciampa beat Matt Sydal. Fightful says the current card is that one bout, on the Rock N Wrestling Rager. The AEW post both articles embed says Ciampa jumped Andrade the previous week and that the rematch is next Saturday. AEW’s own Oct. 31 results have Ciampa over Sydal and do not mention Nov. 7. The results page is that Sydal match. The Nov. 7 card is the new bout.

F4W calls it a WrestleDream rematch. Andrade retained there, in F4W’s description, with a Willow’s Bell DDT onto the title belt Ciampa had introduced, then The DM. A length and a star rating in that article are omitted. F4W says Ciampa’s promo after the previous Collision included “I took him too lightly.” The same Saturday is Crown Jewel. No Collision air time is posted.

Darren Young is back, as a coach — reported

Fightful, Ishaan Sharma on Oct. 31, says Fred Rosser, who worked as Darren Young, posted that he was released nine years ago that day and is now back at NXT, coaching at the Performance Center. Fightful calls him a former Nexus member. Wrestling Online reports the same post and adds Prime Time Players with Titus O’Neill. The two outlets give different years for when his WWE tenure started, so this wire prints neither year. WWE has not announced the coaching role. It is his post, reported by those two.

Crown Jewel, six days out — announced, unchanged

WWE’s event page, checked the morning of Nov. 1, still lists Saturday, November 7, at 7:00 PM, and The Venue. The Crown Jewel card still has four matches: Reigns against Zayn, Green against Morgan, Rhodes against Orton, and the tag match. Nothing on that page moved overnight. Ticket talk, a reason for the building change, and any addition that is not on WWE’s card stay off this wire.

Brooklyn tomorrow — announced, unchanged

Raw on Nov. 2 is still Solo Sikoa against Royce Keys, with John Cena appearing, at Barclays Center. Fightful and the card put the broadcast at 6 p.m. ET on Netflix. Clocks fell back at 2 a.m., so that 6 p.m. is Eastern Standard Time. WWE’s event listing still shows 5:30 PM for the ticketed night and still advertises Roman Reigns. The listing’s 5:30 and the reported 6 p.m. broadcast are the same gap as yesterday. SmackDown for Nov. 6, Punk against Owens, is taped after Raw. No other Raw match is added from an allowed source this morning. Gable is on Wednesday’s NXT six-man, which is a different show.

What we don’t know

Jordan’s opponent is not named. Chandler is either a referee or an enforcer, depending on which outlet’s lineup you read, and WWE.com has not posted the card. Raw’s match list, on allowed sources, is still the one singles bout. TLC has a date, a building, a network, and a start time, and no matches. Collision on Nov. 7 has one bout and no air time. Havoc and Collision viewership are not in these sources.
